Sony has quietly introduced the Sony FX3A, a mild refresh of its widely loved FX3 full-frame Cinema Line camera. While not a generational leap like an “FX3 Mark II,” the FX3A brings a small but practical hardware update—most notably, a higher-resolution rear LCD screen.
The change is less about innovation and more about supply chain adaptation, as the original FX3’s screen is no longer being manufactured. Still, for content creators, filmmakers, and professionals, this small update improves usability and display clarity while retaining the FX3’s strong core.

✅ 1. Enhanced Rear LCD Display
The most noticeable upgrade is the rear LCD screen, which now boasts a 2.36-million dot resolution, up from 1.44 million on the original FX3. This improvement enhances visual sharpness and brightness, especially helpful for outdoor use, framing shots, or navigating menus in harsh lighting conditions.

Surprisingly, Sony removed NFC functionality and infrared remote control from the FX3A. This means no more quick NFC pairing or IR-based control for users with legacy workflows. However, standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are still available for remote control and media transfer.
While the new display was necessary due to component discontinuation, the removal of these features may have been a cost-saving measure.
